ABOUT OUR PROCESS...

ALL film is cleaned and lubed prior to the transfer.

All silent film transfers are done utilizing a state-of-the-art, shutterless, frame-by -frame system, developed in-house, in which each and every frame of your film is captured digitally directly into our video editing systems at 720x480 resolution using 700+ line broadcast quality 3CCD scanning engines. These systems are also available for sale.

Our process is completely DIGITAL!!!

Our transfer equipment allows us to capture the FULL FRAME due to an enlarged gate. Most other transfer houses use standard projection equipment which masks up to 25% of the frame/image. We capture the complete frame up to the sprocket holes.

Your film is NEVER projected during the transfer process, unlike other transfer services, we capture each frame of your film directly from the emulsion with consistent illumination and focus of each frame via a macro lens. We do not use any mirrors or condenser lenses in our process. The use of our 3CCD camera, macro lenses and color balanced LED backlight system allow for the ULTIMATE 8mm film transfer, offering top grade color reproduction and image sharpness simultaneously.

As a result of our process, all transfers are 100% flicker free and display at the same speed at which they were filmed at, 18 fps for Super 8 and 15 fps for R8 Silent.

Your films are compiled digitally into AVI files on our computer systems and digitally enhanced with industry standard video editing software. We then encode these raw video files into DVD compliant video files and write them to DVD with menus, titles and chapters at no additonal cost. We typically add a chapter every 200' of film.

We can fit approximately 1200' of 8mm film on one DVD without reducing video quality.

Digital masters are included with all transfers.

AVI digital master files can be provided upon request .

60 minutes of digital video per tape and AVI files typically utilize 500 - 700 Mb for every 50' of film, depending on type.
